സത്യനാരായണ - ഒരു നിസ്വാർത്ഥ സേവകൻ

പരേതനായ സത്യനാരായണ(ൻ) ഒരു  നിസ്വാർത്ഥ  സേവകനായിരുന്നു.  എന്റെ  ഒരു പഴയ സുഹൃത്തായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം നിര്യാതനായിട്ട് പതിനഞ്ച് വർഷം കഴിഞ്ഞെങ്കിലും അദ്ദേഹം കാണിച്ച സേവന സന്നദ്ധത ഇന്നും ഓർമ്മിക്കത്തക്കതാണു . പ്രായം കൂടുതലാണെങ്കിലും സൽക്കാര്യങ്ങളിൽ ഇളം തലമുറകൾക്ക് ഒരു മാർഗ്ഗദർശി ആയിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം. തെലുങ്കാണ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മാതൃഭാഷ. പ്രസിദ്ധമായ ബുള്ളറ്റ് മോട്ടോർ ബൈക്ക് നിർമ്മാതാക്കളായ ' എൻഫീൽഡ്' കമ്പനിയാലായിരുന്നു ജോലി. മണലി പുതു നഗറിലുള്ള വിവേകാനന്ദ വിദ്യാലയത്തിനു വേണ്ടിയും ഗണപതി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനു വേണ്ടിയും ഞങ്ങളുടെ കൂടെ നിസ്വാർത്ഥമായി പ്രവർത്തിച്ച   വ്യക്തിയാണ് ഇദ്ദേഹം. വളരെ സരളമായി ജീവിച്ച ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ എറ്റവും വലിയ 'വീക്ക്നസ് 'പുകവലിയായിരുന്നു. മരണ കാരണവും അതുമൂലമുണ്ടായ കേൻസറായിരുന്നു.

മണലി പുതു നഗരത്തിൽ പുതുതായി നിർമ്മിച്ച ഭവന പദ്ധതി ഗവർമെന്റിന്റെ അനാസ്ഥ കാരണം പല ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുകളും തരണം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതായുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അതുപോലുള്ള സാഹചര്യങ്ങൾ നേരിടാൻ സത്യനാരായണനെ പോലുള്ളവരുടെ സാന്നിദ്ധ്യം വളരെയേറെ അവശ്യമായിരുന്നു. വഴിപെടാൻ ഒരു ക്ഷേത്രം ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു. അതിന്റെ പോരായ്മ തീർക്കാനായിട്ടാണു ഒരു പിള്ളയാർ കോവിൽ സ്ഥാപിച്ചത്.

കോവിൽ ദൌത്യം വിജയകരമാക്കിയതിനു ശേഷം നമ്മൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ സ്കൂൾ നിർമാണ കമ്മിറ്റിയിലേക്ക് ക്ഷണിച്ചു. വിവേകാനന്ദാവിദ്യാലയം പുതുനഗരിൽ സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നതിനും പ്ലസ്ടു  വരെയുള്ള  ഇന്നത്തെ വികസനത്തിനും അദ്ദേഹം ചെയ്ത സേവനം അവിസ്മരണീയമാണ്.

 

സർവ്വീസിൽ നിന്നും പിരിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ഹൈദ്രബാദിലുള്ള ഒരു കമ്പനിയുടെ ചെന്നൈയിലെ ബ്രാഞ്ച് മാനേജറായി  ജോലി ശരിയാക്കിക്കൊടുത്തിരുന്നു. അത് കാരണം എന്റെ അനുജൻ  രാജനും കുറച്ചുനാൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കീഴിൽ  മദ്രാസിൽ ജോലി ചെയ്യാനുള്ള അവസരമുണ്ടായി എന്നതും കൃതജ്നതയോടെ ഓർമ്മിക്കുന്നു.

പുരസ്കാരത്തിനുമപ്പുറം

  വി അനന്ദകൃഷ്ണൻ മാഷെ ഞാൻ ആദ്യമായിക്കാണുന്നത് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ശതാഭിഷേക ആഘോഷങ്ങളുടെ നടുവിലായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മകനും അന്ന്  ടി ജെ എസ് കൊളെജ് പ്രിൻസിപ്പാളുമായിരുന്ന പ്രൊഫസർ വിജയകുമാറിന്റെ ക്ഷണനം സ്വീകരിച്ചായിരുന്നു ആ ചടങ്ങിൽ ഞാനും കുടുംബവും പങ്കെടുത്തിരുന്നത്. ഇത്  2011 മാർച്ച്  21നായിരുന്നു. നാലര വർഷം പിന്നിട്ടു.

.

വളരെ സൗഹൃദമായ ഒരു ബന്ധം വളരെ പെട്ടെന്ന് തന്നെ പടർന്ന് പന്തലിച്ചു. തമിഴിൽ തിരുക്കുരലിലും മറ്റും വലരെ പ്രാവീണ്യം നേടിയിട്ടുള്ള ഈ സഹൃദയൻ വിശിഷ്ട സേവനത്തിനുള്ള പ്രധാന അദ്ധ്യാപകനുള്ള പുരസ്കാരം നേടിയിടുണ്ട്. പല വിഷയങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച്  പുസ്തകങ്ങൾ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഒരു സസ്യബുക്കായിരുന്ന മാഷ്‌ കുടുംബത്തിലുള്ള എല്ലാവരേയും വെജിറ്റേറിയന്മാരാക്കി.  

 കഴിഞ്ഞ തിങ്കളാഴ്ച പുലരുമ്പോൾ ഈ വന്ദ്യ വയോധികൻ ഇഹലോകവാസം വെടിഞ്ഞുവെന്നത് വളരെ ഖേദപൂർവ്വം ഇവിടെ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ആത്മശാന്തിക്ക് പ്രാർഥിക്കുന്നതോടൊപ്പം മുതിർന്ന കുടുംബനാഥന്റെ വിയോഗമുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന ശൂന്യത തരണം ചെയ്യാനുള്ള കരുത്ത് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ധർമ്മ പത്നിക്കും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ  കുടുംബത്തിനുമുണ്ടാകട്ടെ എന്നും പ്രാർഥിക്കുന്നു.

Few minutes with the maestro of music MSV!

A little known person like me too had an occasion to be in the company of M S Viswvanathan, the popular music director, albeit for a short time.

It was when the little known personal likes and dislikes of the music genius came to the fore. The occasion was when we a small group of persons from Thiruvottiyur, Tondiarpet and Manali New Town wanted him to take over the mantle of a community based social group developed out of circumstantial compulsion. Even though this was a couple of decades ago, I could still recall his enthusiasm and the spontaneous support he offered justifying such a move by us. He went ahead of us in thinking and even offering some financial help if the ideas could be taken further forward. Unfortunately it didn't crystallise  as envisaged and that reluctance gave no further chance to meet the blessed music composer and singer. But the joy of that one meeting itself  was everlasting. The news of his demise was painful. The voice of the melody king that enthralled the music lovers all over the world is no more, but his masterpieces in music has no end!

A Noble Policeman!

In passing away of former IPS officer, C V Narasimhan on 18 th July 2015 I had lost a very important guide. He was nearly 90. It was in late 1990s when we were looking for help to establish a school of excellence I had the first opportunity to interact with him. I and another friend of mine named Gandhi met him at his Abhiramapuram residence. Spontaneously he welcomed and discussed many issues that were our concern then. He was so simple and we felt very comfortable and free to air the views which resulted in several such meetings on many occasions therafter.

He was then one of the Vice-Presidents of the Vivekananda Educational Society.  The society was well known for its activities associated with education. CVN was also involved in the management of P S Group of schools which is one of the oldest popular one in Chennai that was once Madras.

May his soul rest in peace!

Great Loss to Consumer Activism!

The demise of R  Desikan was reported in the Hindu.In his demise I lost a sr. friend and cosumer activist. Our association started way back in 1990 just after the consumer protection rule was at its infancy. The  seminars and activism that he was instrumental has added great fillip to the consumer rights. Once I suggested him to have a seminar on gold. (Gold is one commodity for which no one knows the purity and genuine cost. Still trade flourish. Recently some controls are in place) for which we initiated certain actions . Unfortunately for me enough time and resources were not there to take it to its logical conclusion. I remember how supportive he was and I am thankful to him. When ever Some one brings a consumer issue to me I felt refering to either the late sri.Dalavai ( the Gandhian HC advocate) and in his absence to Desikan.

The feed back was very encouraging and such people are rare now a days. The Hindu report is copied here. Keeping his activities going on will be the best tribute I can think off. RIP

സഹോദരന്റെ വിയോഗം

അപ്രതീക്ഷിതമായുണ്ടായ സഹോദരന്റെ അകാല മ്രുത്യു തറവാട്ടിലെ എല്ലാ അംഗങ്ങളേയും അഗാധ ദുഃഖത്തിൽ ആഴ്തിയിരിക്കുകയാണു. 

2015 ഫെബ്രുവരി  21 ശനിയാഴ്ച വൈകുന്നേരം 6.30 മണി സമയത്ത് സഹോദരൻ രാജൻ കരിവെള്ളൂർ പെരളം, കൊഴുമ്മലുള്ള അവന്റെ ഭാര്യാ ഗൃഹത്തിൽ വെച്ച് നിര്യാതനായി. വയസ്സ് 55. ഏറെക്കാലമായി ആസ്മാ രോഗബാതിതനായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും അപ്രതീക്ഷിതമായിരുന്നു ഈ വിയോഗം.

പരേതനു നിത്യ ശാന്തി നേർന്നു കൊണ്ട് സന്തപ്ത കുടുൂബാംഗങ്ങൾ.

Lakshmi Menon - A tribute!

The shocking news that Mrs. Laksmi Menon is no more was known through the Obituary page of The Hindu news paper  today. She is a well known personality among Malayalees in Chennai and abroad.

Her pleasant and smiling face will always be remembered by those who have opportunity to spent even few minutes with her. Her social service have earned a special status in the community. She will be remembered by many  happy married couples for her services to them during their wedding ceremony.

May her soul rest in piece!

A man of action and humor - a tribute

There are moments in life that cannot be wished away just like that. How would  one express his gratitude  to a person for the generosity shown four decades ago? That too if he is no more! These were the random thought that was running in my mind after seeing the picture of this nice gentleman in Mathrubhumi daily. The obituary ads in this news paper are so many that it was a sort of miracle that I could glance up on this beloved person who served the Indian Air Force for a pretty long period. Raghuttiyettan as he was known among his juniors was active in politics and social work post retirement. The one year that I stayed with his joint family in late seventies is still afresh in my memory. He helped many boys those days to select career in Air Force.

The last time we met was in 2000 February second week when he called at our home for condoling the demise of my father late O V K Nambiar.  At that time he was accompanied by his wife and youngest sister. Never I could imagine that he lived only for five years thereafter.  A man of action and humor indeed!

സത്യത്തില് നാം തന്നെയല്ലേ നമ്മുടെ മതത്തെ മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ മുന്നില് ഇത്രയേറെ പരിഹാസ്യരാക്കുന്നതിനു കാരണം. പാകിസ്ഥാനിലും ഇറാഖിലും മുസ്ലിങ്ങളെ മുസ്ലിങ്ങള് കൊന്നാല് നമുക്ക് സങ്കടം ഇല്ല. ദുഃഖം ഇല്ല. മറിച്ചു ഇസ്രയേലികള് മുസ്ലിങ്ങളെ കൊന്നാല് നമ്മുടെ വികാരം സട കുടഞ്ഞു എഴുനേല്ക്കും. 

ആരാണ് നമ്മുടെ ശത്രു? അന്യ മതസ്ഥര് ആണോ? ഒരിക്കലും അല്ല.

നിങ്ങള് എന്തിനാണ് അള്ളാഹു അക്ബര് എന്ന് പറഞു മനുഷ്യനെ കൊന്നൊടുക്കുന്നത് എന്ന് ഒരു അന്യ മതസ്തന് ചോദിച്ചപ്പോള് ഒരാള് പറഞ്ഞത് നിനക്ക് ഇസ്ലാമിനെ പറ്റി അറിയില്ല പോയി ഖുര്ആന് വായിക്കൂ എന്നാണ്. ഈ പറയുന്ന ഖുര്ആന് വായിച്ചിട്ട് അതില് പറയുന്നത് പോലാണോ ഇവരൊക്കെ ഇങ്ങിനെ ചെയ്തു കൂട്ടുന്നത്. ഖുര്ആന് ഒരിക്കല് എങ്കിലും മുഴുവനായി അര്ഥം മനസ്സിലാക്കി വായിച്ച ആര്ക്കെങ്കിലും സഹ ജീവിക്കെതിരെ തോക്കോ വാളോ ബോംബോ എടുത്ത് ഉപയോഗിക്കാന് കഴിയുമോ? പിന്നെ നമ്മള് മുഴുവന് ആയി വായിക്കാത്ത ഈ ഖുര്ആന് മറ്റൊരു മതസ്തനോട് വായിക്കാന് പറയുന്നതിന് എന്താണ് അര്ഥം? ഖുര്ആന് പ്രകാരം നമ്മള് ജീവിച്ചാല് ആരെങ്കിലും നമ്മോട് വന്നു ചോദിക്കുമോ ഇത്തരം ചോദ്യങ്ങള്. ഒരിക്കലും ഇല്ല.

മുസ്ലിങ്ങള് ചെയ്തു കൂട്ടുന്ന അക്രമങ്ങള് എല്ലാം ഖുറാനില് പറഞ്ഞിട്ടാണ് എന്ന് കരുതുന്ന മറ്റു മതസ്ഥരോടു അങ്ങിനെ അല്ല കാര്യങ്ങള് എന്ന് നമ്മള് എങ്ങിനെ തെളിയിച്ചു കൊടുക്കും? കണ്ണില് കാണുന്നതല്ലേ അവര് മനസ്സിലാക്കൂ. മരിക്കുന്നത് ആരായാലും എവിടെ ആയാലും അതെല്ലാം മനുഷ്യന് ആണ്. രക്തനിന്റെ നിറവും ഒന്നാണ്. എന്ത് കൊണ്ടാണ് പലെസ്ടിനിയെ തൊട്ടാല് മാത്രം നമുക്ക് പൊള്ളുന്നതും മറ്റു മുസ്ലിം രാജ്യങ്ങളിലെ മുസ്ലിങ്ങള് തമ്മിലടിച്ചാല് നമ്മള് പ്രതികരിക്കാത്തതും. അപ്പോള് ആരാണ് മരിക്കുന്നത് എന്നല്ല, ആര് മൂലം ആണ് മരിക്കുന്നത് എന്നല്ലേ നമ്മള് നോക്കുന്നത്? കൊല്ലുന്നത് മുസ്ലിം അല്ലാത്തവര് ആവുമ്പോള് മാത്രമേ നാം പ്രതികരിക്കൂ?

നാം തന്നെ പറയുന്നില്ലേ അള്ളാഹു ആണ് ആരാധനക്ക് അര്ഹന് അവന് മാത്രമാണ് ഏക ദൈവം എന്ന്. അപ്പോള് ആ അള്ളാഹു തന്നെയല്ലേ മറ്റു മതക്കാരെയും സൃഷ്ടിച്ചത്. അപ്പൊ അവരെ നാം നിന്ദിക്കുമ്പോള് അല്ലാഹുവിന്റെ സൃഷ്ടിയെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നതിന് തുല്യം അല്ലെ അത്. കുറെ ആവേശം കൊണ്ടത് കൊണ്ടോ ഇസ്രയേലിനെ തെറി വിളിച്ചത് കൊണ്ടോ നമ്മുടെ പ്രശ്നങ്ങള് തീരില്ല. .

ഇനിയെങ്കിലും വൈകാരിക പ്രകടnaങ്ങള് മാറ്റി വെച്ച് ഖുറാനില് പറഞ്ഞ പോലെ ജീവിക്കാന് നമ്മള് തയ്യാറായില്ലെങ്കില് ലോകം മുഴുവന് നമ്മെ വെറുക്കുന്ന ഒരു കാലം അതി വിദൂരം അല്ല. 

ഖുര്ആന് മുറുകെ പിടിക്കൂ. ഖുറാനിലെ ആശയങ്ങള് അതിന്റെ അന്തസ്സത്ത ഉള്ക്കൊണ്ടു പ്രച്ചരിപ്പികൂ. നമ്മെ സ്നേഹിക്കും നമ്മെ വെറുക്കുന്നവര് വരെ.

Remember the martyrs, not Politicians!

Martyr Major Mukund Varadarajan :

The Major, a native of East Tambaram, joined 22 Rajput after training at Officers' Training Academy in Chennai. He had been deployed with the 44 Rashtriya Rifles for counter-insurgency operations in Shopian. Kashmir.

The terrorist encounter, in which the Major and the jawan were killed, ended on Saturday. Bodies of three militants were also recovered.

Security forces had launched search operations in Karewa Malino in Shopian, 55 km from Srinagar on April 25, 2014 on information about presence of three Hizb-ul Mujahideen militants. The militants were asked to surrender but resorted to firing, triggering the gunfight.

Shopian is part of Anantnag Parliamentary constituency and the encounter took place a day after militants attacked a polling party escorted by police and CRPF in the district at the end of the voting on Thursday.

One polling officer was killed while five others, including three security personnel, were injured in the incident.

My deepest heart felt condolences to the bereaved family and patriots of India.

കണ്ണൂർ മട്ടനൂർ ഇന്റർനേഷനൽ ഏയർപ്പോർട്ട് (KIAL)

ഇത് കേരളത്തിലെ നാലാമനാണ്. അഞ്ചാമൻ ആറന്മുളയാവാൻ സാദ്ധ്യതയുണ്ട്.

കണ്ണൂർ വിമാനത്താവളത്തിന്റെ നിർമ്മാണം ലാർസൻ ആന്റ് ട്യൂബ്രോ എന്ന കമ്പനിക്ക് കൊടുക്കാൻ ഈയ്യിടെ തീരുമാനിച്ചു. (Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has been awarded the engineering, procurement, construction (ഇ പി സി) contract for Kannur airport.)

'എല്ലെൻടി' കമ്പനിയാണു New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore എന്നീ വിമാനത്താവളങ്ങൾ നിർമ്മിച്ചത്.

The KIAL board had cleared the detailed project report prepared by AECOM Asia. A consortium led by the Hong Kong-based AECOM Asia Pvt. Ltd., and comprising AECOM India Pvt. Ltd. and CRISIL, was the project consultant.

The EPC for the airside included earthwork, and works on the runway, taxiway, apron, and ground lighting. Associated infrastructure such as perimeter wall and operational wall would come under the EPC.

The work on EPC II to ensure that the first flight takes off from the airport in December 2015 is also in full swing. The request for qualification (RFQ) for the EPC II will be floated in January next and the aim was to award the work by April 2014, sources said.The integrated terminal building, air traffic control tower, administrative and technical blocks, and facilities in the buildings such as aerobridges, escalators, elevators, and counters would be included in EPC II. Environment clearance from the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests for the project was received in July this year and the 800 hectares needed had been notified. The KIAL was in possession of 511.2 hectares of land and the remaining was to be handed over soon.

Official sources said all mandatory clearances including that from the local municipality and the panchayat had been received for the project.

The airport was coming up in the Keezhallur grama panchayat and the Mattannur municipality at an estimated cost of Rs.1,542 crore on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis. It will be set up on a build, own, operate (BOO) model.

If all goes well the airport is expected to commission by December 2015. But inaugaurated finally 9th Dec 2018 with 15 flights on the same day.

Iസഹകരണസംഘനിയമപ്രകാരം രജിസ്റ്റർചെയ്തതും മണൽവാരൽ തൊഴിലാളികളുടെ ഉപജീവനം മുഖ്യലക്ഷ്യമായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നതുമായ സംഘങ്ങൾക്കാണ് ടെൻഡറിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കാൻ അനുമതിയുണ്ടായിരുന്നത്. ഇവ തുറമുഖപരിധിക്ക് 10 കിലോമീറ്റർ ചുറ്റളവിലുള്ളതുമായിരിക്കണം. ഇക്കാര്യം വ്യക്തമാക്കാൻ സഹകരണസംഘം രജിസ്ട്രാറുടെ സാക്ഷ്യപത്രം സംഘങ്ങൾ ടെൻഡറിനൊപ്പം സമർപ്പിക്കണമെന്നായിരുന്നു വ്യവസ്ഥ. ഇത് പാലിക്കാനാണ് 17 സംഘങ്ങൾ വ്യാജരേഖ സമർപ്പിച്ചത്.

കണ്ണൂർ ജോയിൻറ് രജിസ്ട്രാർ ഓഫീസിലെ അസി. രജിസ്ട്രാർ (പ്ലാനിങ്) വി.ബി.കൃഷ്ണകുമാറാണ് സംഘങ്ങൾക്ക് വ്യാജ സാക്ഷ്യപത്രം നൽകിയത്. ഇത്തരമൊരു സർട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റ് നൽകാൻ ഈ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥന് അധികാരമില്ല. മാത്രവുമല്ല, ജോയിൻറ് രജിസ്ട്രാർ ഓഫീസിൽ ഇതിനുള്ള ഒരു തെളിവും അവശേഷിപ്പിക്കാതെയാണ് 17 സാക്ഷ്യപത്രവും നൽകിയത്. ടെൻഡറിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നതിന് ഒരു സംഘത്തിനും ഓഫീസിൽനിന്ന് ഔദ്യോഗികമായി സാക്ഷ്യപത്രം നൽകിയിട്ടില്ലെന്ന് കണ്ണൂർ ജോയിൻറ് രജിസ്ട്രാർ സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചു. സാക്ഷ്യപത്രംലഭിച്ച ചില സംഘങ്ങളിലെ ഭൂരിഭാഗം അംഗങ്ങളും മണൽവാരൽത്തൊഴിലാളികളല്ല. ജീവനക്കാരുടെ സഹകരണസംഘംവരെ ഇക്കൂട്ടത്തിലുണ്ട്. ടെൻഡറിൽ പങ്കെടുത്ത 71 സംഘങ്ങളിൽ 17 എണ്ണംമാത്രമാണ് സാക്ഷ്യപത്രം നൽകിയിട്ടുള്ളത്.

90 ശതമാനം അംഗങ്ങളും മണൽവാരൽ തൊഴിലാളികളാണെന്ന തെറ്റായ വിവരമാണ് പലസംഘങ്ങൾക്കും അസി. രജിസ്ട്രാർ (പ്ലാനിങ്) സാക്ഷ്യപ്പെടുത്തി നൽകിയത്. ജില്ലാ ജോയിൻറ് രജിസ്ട്രാർ, ജോയിൻറ് രജിസ്ട്രാർ ഓഫീസിലെ സംഘങ്ങളുടെ രജിസ്ട്രേഷൻ വിഭാഗത്തിന്റെ ചുമതലയുള്ള ഡെപ്യൂട്ടി രജിസ്ട്രാർ, താലൂക്ക് അസി. രജിസ്ട്രാർ (ജനറൽ) എന്നിവർക്കാണ് ഇക്കാര്യം പരിശോധിച്ച് സാക്ഷ്യപത്രം നൽകാൻ അധികാരമുള്ളത്. എന്നാൽ, സംഘങ്ങളിലെ അംഗങ്ങൾ മണൽവാരൽത്തൊഴിലാളികളാണെന്ന് സാക്ഷ്യപ്പെടുത്തി നൽകാൻ ഇവർ തയ്യാറായില്ല. അത്തരമൊരു പരിശോധന തൊഴിൽവകുപ്പ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർക്ക് മാത്രമേ കഴിയൂവെന്നാണ് ഇവരുടെ നിലപാട്. ഇതിനുശേഷമാണ് സംഘങ്ങളിൽ പരിശോധന നടത്താൻ അധികാരമില്ലാത്ത പ്ലാനിങ് അസി. രജിസ്ട്രാർ രഹസ്യമായി 17 സംഘങ്ങൾക്ക് സാക്ഷ്യപത്രം നൽകിയത്. ടെൻഡറിൽ പങ്കെടുത്ത സംഘങ്ങളെല്ലാം ക്ഷേമസഹകരണ സംഘങ്ങളാണ്. ഈ സംഘത്തിന്റെ ഒരു രേഖപോലും പ്ലാനിങ് വിഭാഗത്തിൽ വരുന്നതല്ല. മാത്രവുമല്ല, ഓഫീസിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നിട്ടും ജോയിൻറ് രജിസ്ട്രാറുടെ അനുമതിയില്ലാതെയാണ് രണ്ടുദിവസംകൊണ്ട് ഈ സർട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റുകളെല്ലാം അസി. രജിസ്ട്രാർ നൽകിയത്. 

ജില്ലാ ജോയിൻറ് രജിസ്ട്രാർ ഓഫീസിന്റെ മുദ്രപതിച്ചാണ് എല്ലാ രേഖകളും നൽകിയത്. എന്നാൽ, ഓഫീസിൽ ഇത്തരമൊരു രേഖ നൽകിയതിന് ഒരു തെളിവുമില്ല. ഒരു സംഘത്തിനും സാക്ഷ്യപത്രം നൽകിയിട്ടില്ലെന്നും അതിനുള്ള ഒരു അപേക്ഷപോലും ജോയിൻറ് രജിസ്ട്രാർ ഓഫീസിൽ ലഭിച്ചിട്ടില്ലെന്നുമാണ് വിവരാവകാശനിയമപ്രകാരം ജോയിൻറ് രജിസ്ട്രാർ നൽകിയ മറുപടിയിൽ പറയുന്നത്. 

മണലെടുക്കാനുള്ള അനുമതിലഭിക്കുന്ന സംഘങ്ങൾ പെർമിറ്റ് മറിച്ചുവിൽക്കുന്നുണ്ടെന്ന് ആരോപണം ശക്തമാണ്. 15ലക്ഷം രൂപവരെ ഇതിന് ചില സംഘങ്ങൾ വാങ്ങുന്നുണ്ട്. അതാണ് വ്യാജരേഖയുണ്ടാക്കി ടെൻഡറിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കാൻ സഹകരണസംഘങ്ങൾ മത്സരിച്ചത്. തുറമുഖവകുപ്പ് ഏർപ്പെടുത്തിയ നിബന്ധന മാറ്റണമെന്നാവശ്യപ്പെട്ട് ചില സംഘങ്ങൾ ഹൈക്കോടതിയിൽ ഹർജി നൽകിയിരുന്നു. ഇത് പരിഗണിച്ച കോടതി ടെൻഡർ നടപടി സ്റ്റേ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുകയാണ്. 

ജോയിൻറ് രജിസ്ട്രാർ ഓഫീസിൽ സംഘങ്ങൾ രേഖകൾ ഹാജരാക്കിയപ്പോൾ അത് പരിശോധിച്ച് സർട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റ് നൽകുകയാണ് ചെയ്തതെന്ന് വി.ബി.കൃഷ്ണകുമാർ വിശദീകരിച്ചു. സാക്ഷ്യപ്പെടുത്തൽ മാത്രമാണ് നടത്തിയത്. ഇതിനായി ഒരു ഫയലും ഓഫീസിൽ സൂക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. ജോയിൻറ് രജിസ്ട്രാർ ഇക്കാര്യം അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടുമില്ല. ഇതിനുള്ള അധികാരം തനിക്കുണ്ടെന്നും കൃഷ്ണകുമാർ പറഞ്ഞു. 

Friend remembered

Here is a man who left for his heavenly abode a year ago! A man volunteered to help any body and every body any time any where. He was living in the neighbourhood of Manali New Town for about a quarter of a century. A simple family loving person who worked in Coats India, Chennai. After voluntary retirement from the company he was doing social service. He was a person who was actively involved in the Welfare activities of MNT welfare Association with out seeking any official position he ventured to 

 

Service treating all the members of the association equal in status avoiding the for and against attitude.

He died  much younger than those of his age group because of illness. The inadequacy of health services at Manali New Town had  done immense damage  to his life and  added untold financial constraints.

Ramakrishnan helped me on several occasions especially during the marriage of my first daughter in 1998 when I needed a brother like person for guidance.  As the great saint Thiru Valluvar states "The world is his who does his job with compassion!"

ഇന്റര്നെറ്റ് വഴി തട്ടിപ്പ്; നൈജീരിയക്കാരനും മുംബൈ സ്വദേശിനിയും അറസ്റ്റില്

കൊല്ലം: ഉത്തേജക എണ്ണയുടെ ഇടപാടിന്െറ പേരില് ഇന്റര്നെറ്റിലൂടെ വന് തട്ടിപ്പ് നടത്തുന്ന സംഘത്തിലെ നൈജീരിയക്കാരനും മുംബൈ സ്വദേശിനിയായ യുവതിയുമടക്കം രണ്ട് പേര് അറസ്റ്റില്. നൈജീരിയന് പൗരനും മുംബൈയില് താമസക്കാരനുമായ ഫ്രാങ്ക് ഒബന്യായ ചിക്വ (32), മുംബൈ ബാന്ദ്ര സ്വദേശിനി ജ്യോത്സ്ന സുദീപ് അലുവാലിയ (22) എന്നിവരെയാണ് ക്രൈംബ്രാഞ്ചിന്െറ സാമ്പത്തിക കുറ്റാന്വേഷണ വിഭാഗം മുംബൈയില് നിന്ന് അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തത്. തിരുവനന്തപുരം സ്വദേശിയില് നിന്ന് ഒന്നരകോടിയിലേറെ രൂപ തട്ടിയെടുത്തെന്ന പരാതിയെ തുടര്ന്നുള്ള അന്വേഷണത്തിലാണ് അറസ്റ്റ്.

ഇ-മെയില്, എസ്.എം.എസ് സന്ദേശങ്ങള് വഴി നിരവധി പേരെ ഇവര് കബളിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നാണ് സംശയിക്കുന്നത്. തിരുവനന്തപുരം ശാസ്തമംഗലം സ്വദേശിയായ അനില്കുമാറില് നിന്ന് പലപ്പോഴായി സംഘം 1.56 കോടി രൂപ തട്ടിയെടുത്തതായി അന്വേഷണത്തില് വ്യക്തമായി. റബര് കയറ്റുമതി രംഗത്ത് പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചിരുന്ന അനില്കുമാര് കയറ്റുമതി മേഖലയില് നൂതനപ്രവണതകള് വ്യാപകമായതോടെ മറ്റ് ബിസിനസ് സാധ്യതകളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ആലോചനയിലായിരുന്നു. ഇതിനിടെ ഇയാളുടെ ഇ-മെയില് വിലാസത്തിലേക്ക് നൈജീരിയന് കമ്പനിക്ക് പ്രത്യേകതരം ഉത്തേജക എണ്ണ ഇന്ത്യയില് നിന്ന് ഇറക്കുമതി ചെയ്യുന്നതിന് ഇടപാടുകാരെ തേടിയുള്ള മെയില് വന്നു. ‘വീറ്റോ സൈറ്റോ ഓയില്’ എന്ന പേരിലുള്ള ഈ ഉല്പന്നം കായികരംഗത്തുള്ളവരടക്കം ഉപയോഗിക്കാറുണ്ടത്രെ. നേരത്തേ  ഓയില് ഇന്ത്യയില് നിന്ന് കയറ്റുമതി ചെയ്തിരുന്നയാള് മരിച്ച സാഹചര്യത്തിലാണ് പുതിയ ആളെ തേടുന്നതെന്നും ഇ-മെയിലില് വിവരിച്ചിരുന്നു.  

തുടര്ന്ന് ഇ-മെയില് അയച്ചയാള് അനില്കുമാറിനെ മൊബൈലില് വിളിച്ച് ഇടപാടിന്െറ കൂടുതല് വിവരങ്ങളും സാധ്യതകളും ബോധ്യപ്പെടുത്തി. മുംബൈയിലുള്ള കമ്പനിയില് നിന്ന് ഓയില് വാങ്ങി നൈജീരിയന് കമ്പനിക്ക് കയറ്റുമതി ചെയ്യാന് ചിലരുടെ ഫോണ് നമ്പറുകളും നല്കി. ഇതിനിടെ മുംബൈയിലെ ഇന്ത്യന് കമ്പനിയുടെ പ്രതിനിധിയെന്ന് പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തി ‘ലക്ഷ്മി കുമാര്’ എന്ന വ്യാജപേരില് ജ്യോത്സ്ന അനില്കുമാറിനെ വിളിച്ചു.  ഓയില് നല്കുന്നതിന് ആകെ പണത്തിന്െറ പകുതി മുന്കൂര് നല്കണമെന്ന് ആവശ്യപ്പെടുകയായിരുന്നു. 20 ഗാലന് ഓയില് തങ്ങള്ക്ക് ആവശ്യമുണ്ടെന്നുള്ള നൈജീരിയന് കമ്പനിയുടെ പേരിലുള്ള സന്ദേശവും അനില്കുമാറിന് കിട്ടി. ഇന്ത്യന് കമ്പനി നല്കിയ ഓയിലിന്െറ സാമ്പിള് പരിശോധിക്കാന് നൈജീരിയന് പ്രതിനിധിയെന്ന നിലയില്  ഫ്രാങ്ക് ഒബന്യായ ചിക്വ തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തെത്തി. ഓയില് ‘പരിശോധിച്ചശേഷം’ മികച്ചതാണെന്ന് ബോധ്യപ്പെടുത്തിയാണ് ഇയാള് മടങ്ങിയത്. എന്നാല് 20 ഗാലന് നല്കാമെന്നേറ്റ ഇന്ത്യന്കമ്പനി എട്ട് ഗാലന് മാത്രമാണ് അനില്കുമാറിന് നല്കാന് സന്നദ്ധമായത്.  ജ്യോത്സ്ന നല്കിയ വിവിധ ബാങ്കുകളിലെ പത്ത് അക്കൗണ്ട് നമ്പറുകളിലായി ഒന്നരക്കോടിയിലേറെ രൂപ അനില് കുമാര് നിക്ഷേപിച്ചു. കരാര് പ്രകാരമുള്ള ശേഷിക്കുന്ന ഓയില് നല്കണമെങ്കില് കൂടുതല് തുക അക്കൗണ്ടിലേക്ക് നിക്ഷേപിക്കണമെന്ന് ജ്യോത്സ്ന അറിയിച്ചു. ഇതോടെ സംശയം തോന്നിയ അനില്കുമാര് സുഹൃത്തുക്കളോട് ആലോചിച്ചശേഷം പൊലീസില് പരാതി നല്കുകയായിരുന്നു. അറസ്റ്റിലായ പ്രതികളെ കൊല്ലം ക്രൈംബ്രാഞ്ച് ആസ്ഥാനത്ത് എത്തിച്ച ശേഷം ജില്ലാ ആശുപത്രിയില് വൈദ്യപരിശോധനക്ക് വിധേയമാക്കി. തട്ടിപ്പ് സംഘത്തിലുള്ള മറ്റുള്ളവരെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള വിവരങ്ങള്ക്കായി ഇവരെ വിശദമായി ചോദ്യം ചെയ്യും.  ഫ്രാങ്ക് ഒബന്യായ ചിക്വയും ജോത്സ്നയും ആഗസ്റ്റില് വിവാഹിതരാകാനുള്ള തീരുമാനത്തിലായിരുന്നത്രെ.  

ഉത്തേജക ഓയിലെന്ന് പറയപ്പെടുന്ന ‘വിറ്റോ സൈറ്റോ ഓയിലി’നെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ശാസ്ത്രീയവിവരങ്ങള് ഇനിയും ലഭ്യമായിട്ടില്ലെന്ന് അന്വേഷണ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥര് പറഞ്ഞു. അനില്കുമാറിന് ഇന്ത്യന് കമ്പനിയുടേതെന്ന പേരില് അയച്ചുകൊടുത്ത ഗാലനുകളിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നത് മൃഗക്കൊഴുപ്പാണെന്ന നിഗമനത്തിലാണ് ക്രൈംബ്രാഞ്ച്. ഇതുസംബന്ധിച്ച് കൂടുതല് പരിശോധനകള് നടത്തേണ്ടതുണ്ട്.

Remembering an Educationist

There were occasions for me to encounter people from different walks of life. One such person was Garodiyaji. A wealthy man who lived in Anna Nagar Chennai for several years. He died few years back. What made me to write something like this is the small picture that was there in the obituary pages of some papers a few days ago. He was a great philanthropist. He contributed immensely for the education of Chennai.  There are several government schools named after him. Garodiyaji  believed in Hindutva. He was a supporter of RSS and its ideology. 

 

A decade and a half ago few like minded persons wanted to develop a school at Manali New Town. It was my place of living  then which was having only a school run by the Catholic Church. The need for proper education was felt by the first generation parents, predominantly by the industrial workers living in New town. Vivekananda Educational Society were running several school successfully with a better national outlook than other schools of Chennai.  He was one among few in Vivekananda Educational Society's office bearers in the forefront of supporting it. However the movement saw many obstacles which were all overcome and the school has established its credentials among the best educational institutions. This blog post is a dedication to the educationists and philanthropists of Chennai.

 

ഭരണം ,ആ- ഭരണം!

പത്ര വാർത്ത - മാതൃഭൂമി- കേരള സർക്കാർ ഓഫീസിൽ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടനിലയിൽ കണ്ടെത്തിയ ലോക്കറിനുള്ളിൽ രത്നങ്ങളും സ്വർണാഭരണങ്ങളും.

വ്യവസായ വകുപ്പിന് കീഴിലുള്ള ആർട്ടീഷൻസ് ഡെവലപ്മെന്റ് കോർപ്പറേഷന്റെ ( KADCO ) ഹെഡ്ഓഫീസിൽനിന്നാണ് രേഖയിൽപ്പെടാത്ത രത്നങ്ങളും ആഭരണങ്ങളും സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്ന ഒരു ഇരുന്പുപെട്ടി കണ്ടെത്തി. കഴിഞ്ഞ ജനവരിയിലാണു കണ്ടെത്തിയതെന്ന് പറയപ്പെടുന്നു. ഇപ്പോഴാണ് സംഗതി പുറത്തുവന്നത്. ഇപ്പോൾ വിജിലൻസ് അന്വേഷണം ആരംഭിച്ചു. 'കാഡ്കോ'യുടെ ലോ കോളേജ് ജങ്ഷനിലുള്ള പ്രധാന ഓഫീസിലാണ് പഴയ സാധനങ്ങൾ കുട്ടിയിട്ടിരുന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് കിടന്ന ഇരുന്പുപെട്ടി കണ്ടെത്തിയിട്ട് രണ്ടുവർഷമായെങ്കിലും രണ്ടുമാസംമുൻപാണ് തുറക്കാനായത്. സർക്കാർ നിയോഗിച്ച കമ്മിറ്റിയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ പെട്ടി തുറന്നപ്പോൾ കണ്ടത് അന്പരപ്പിക്കുന്ന ആഭരണശേഖരമായിരുന്നു.
നവരത്നക്കല്ലുകൾ പതിച്ച ആഭരണങ്ങൾ, പവിഴം പതിച്ച രണ്ടര ഗ്രാം വീതമുള്ള സ്വർണമോതിരം, എട്ട് ഗ്രാം വീതമുള്ള ഗോമേദകം പതിച്ച ആഭരണങ്ങൾ, രണ്ടര ഗ്രാം വീതമുള്ള കമ്മലുകൾ, വെള്ളക്കല്ല് പതിച്ച 3. 90 ഗ്രാം തൂക്കമുള്ള രണ്ട് കമ്മലുകൾ, പവിഴം, ഗോമേദകം, നവരത്നം എന്നിവയുടെ സെറ്റുകൾ തുടങ്ങിയവയാണ് പൊടിപിടിച്ചു കിടന്ന പെട്ടിയിൽ കണ്ടത്. ആഭരണങ്ങൾ ഇ. ജെ. അലക്സാണ്ടർ എന്നയാളുടെ പേരിൽ പണയത്തിൽവെച്ചതിന്റെ രേഖകളും ലോക്കറിന്റെ മറ്റൊരു അറയിൽ നിന്ന് കണ്ടെത്തി. 40801 രൂപയുടെ കുടിശ്ശികയുണ്ടെന്ന് സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്ന കണക്കു പുസ്തകവും പുറത്തെടുത്തു. പെട്ടിയിലെ മൂന്ന് അറകളിൽ ഒരെണ്ണം ഒഴിഞ്ഞ നിലയിലായിരുന്നു. ആഭരണങ്ങളുടെയും രത്നത്തിന്റെയും മൂല്യം കണക്കാക്കിയിട്ടില്ല.
2011-ൽ വാർഷിക കണക്കെടുപ്പ് നടത്തുന്നതിനിടെയാണ് പഴയസാധനങ്ങളും പെട്ടികളും മറ്റും ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് ഒരു ഇരുന്പുപെട്ടി പൊടിപിടിച്ചു കിടക്കുന്നത് ശ്രദ്ധയിൽപെട്ടത്. പക്ഷേ അതിനുള്ളിൽ എന്താണെന്നോ താക്കോൽ എവിടെയാണെന്നോ ജീവനക്കാർക്ക് ആർക്കും അറിയില്ലായിരുന്നു. തുടർന്ന് അന്ന് സ്ഥാപനത്തിന്റെ എം. ഡിയായിരുന്ന പി.എൻ. ഹേന ഇക്കാര്യം വ്യവസായ വകുപ്പിനെ അറിയിച്ചു. അന്വേഷണം എങ്ങുമെത്താതായതോടെ 2012 ജൂണിൽ സർക്കാർ ഒരു സമിതിയെ നിയോഗിച്ചു. ഏറെ നാളത്തെ അന്വേഷണത്തിനു ശേഷം ഈ ലോക്കർ നിർമ്മിച്ചത് തമിഴ്നാട് സ്വദേശിയായ ചെല്ലയ്യൻ എന്നയാളാണെന്ന് കണ്ടെത്തി. ഇയാളെ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തിയാണ് ഇക്കഴിഞ്ഞ ജനുവരി 17-ന് പോലീസ് സാന്നിധ്യത്തിൽ ലോക്കർ തുറന്നത്. വ്യവസായ വകുപ്പ് അഡീഷണൽ ഡയറക്ടർ സതീശൻ ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ളവർ സന്നിഹിതരായിരുന്നു. ദൃശ്യങ്ങൾ വീഡിയോയിൽ പകർത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു.

Why's & How's of Acupuncture treatment

Acupuncture has been practiced in China and other Asia countries for thousands of years and it is one of the key components of traditional Chinese medicine.

The theory in traditional Chinese medicine is the disease results from the disruption in the flow of vital energy, or "chi," in the body. "Chi" is thought to flow along pathways in the body known as meridians. To remove blockages in the flow of "chi" and restore and maintain health, acupuncture practitioner insert hair-thin needles into the skin at specific points on the body that connect with these meridians.

Relatively few complications have been reported from the use of acupuncture. However, acupuncture can cause potentially serious side-effects if not delivered properly by a qualified practitioner.

If you are considering acupuncture, seek treatment from a qualified acupuncture practitioner.Check credentials, and discuss the number of treatments and the cost involved. Also, tell your family doctor about any complementary and alternative practices you use. Give them a full picture of what you do to manage your health beforehand .

Anandan Vaidyar - A Tribute !

With the passage of time good deeds of ordinary people are faded into history. There were times when selfless services of ordinary people are ignored and  selfish deeds of well to do are carried forward as great service. The advance in treatment and the diseases are well known. What is not known to the present generation is how the past generation survived the onslaught of  illness from fever to fear psychosis.They have always had a  few local hereditary healers at hand.There was no cast creed or religion barrier for the healers. The sole purpose was human service. This may not sound true for the majority of present generations. Most of these healers are of successors of some legacy. Success or failure never entered there head. They lived a life of extreme austerity.

Anandan Vaidyar was one of such person lived for the village of Azhikode. He served the community to the best of his ability till his end.  His ancestors were also practitioners of Ayurvedam. Anandan Vaidyar was initiated to the traditional ayurvedam by his uncle  Appa Vaidyar also a noted community server. Sanskrit knowledge  was essential to understand the texts of Ayurvedam.. Those were the days when matri-lineal system was prevalent in Malabar families.The family was managed by the eldest Uncle of the family. Fathers are there by responsible for their nieces and  nephews than his own siblings's welfare. The system worked out well in the efficient propertied families. However it was very miserable in many poor families. Even a square meal a day was  a luxury. By the mid of previous century the system was scraped by the government for better.It was no solace to many families which by then were leading a life of penuiry. Vaidyar was one of them.

A victim of his time he couldn't pay fees for his education beyond a third form.The system prevailing then wanted all upper caste student to pay tution fee irespective of their financial resources.It is sad to note that even after six decades today, the situation is not any better! Adding to his woes were the death of his uncles and and a large family with meagre income. All these problems had not caused any deviation to his determination  to serve the needy a trait I wish to recall. His married life was a failure. The last thing I wish to mention here is that in his death bed he wrote me a letter seeking some help to tie over his ailment. A foot note endorsed by one of his niece's son said it all. He lived just a couple of weeks just after that. He lives in my heart and the rare picture I preserved for more than two decades is posted to make it known to his near and dear that still someone is caring him.

എരുമ രാഷ്ട്രീയം

പശുവിനോടാണ് പൊതുവെ ഭാരതീയർക്ക് കൂടുതൽ സ്നേഹവും ബഹുമാനവും. ചെന്നയിൽ “ഗോമാതാ എൻ കുലമാതാ” എന്നാണ് തമിഴിൽ പറയാറ്. ദൈവതുല്ല്യമായി പശുവിനെക്കാണൂന്ന നമുക്ക് എരുമയോട് അത്ര പ്രതിപത്തിയുണ്ടാകാറില്ല. പോത്തിന്റെ പുറത്താണ് കാലൻ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നത് എന്ന വിശ്വാസമാണോ ഇതിനു കാരണം എന്ന് ഗവേഷകർ കണ്ടു പിടിക്കട്ടെ!
മനുഷ്യർക്ക് നടന്നു പോകാൻ പോലും ചെന്നയിലെ റോഡുകളിൽ  സ്ഥലമില്ല. എന്നാൽ പശുവിനെയും എരുമയെയും യഥേഷ്ടം കാണാൻ കഴിയും. പൊതുവെ റോഡില്‍ കാണുന്ന  പശുക്കളെ ആരും ഉപദ്രവിക്കാറില്ല  എന്ന വിശ്വാസമായിരിക്കാം ഇതിനു കാരണം. എരുമയാണ് പശുവിനേക്കാൾ പാൽ തരുന്നത്. പാൽ വിറ്റ് ഉപജീവനം കഴിക്കുന്നവർക്ക് അതുകൊണ്ട് എരുമയെ വളർത്താനാണിഷ്ടം. വളർത്തുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാൽ റോഡിലേക്കഴിച്ചു വിടുക എന്നു മാത്രമേ അർഥമുള്ളൂ (അതാണ് താഴെ ചിത്രത്തിൽ). പാൽ കറക്കാൻ സമയമായാൽ മാട്ടുക്കാരൻ തന്റെ പാൽപ്പാത്രവുമെടുത്ത് ഒരു സൈക്കിളിൽ കറങ്ങി മാടിനെ ത്തേടിപ്പിടിച്ചു കൊള്ളും.  കൂടുതൽ പാൽ കിട്ടാൻ മാടുകൾക്ക് കൂറേ പുല്ലും പുണ്ണാക്കുമൊക്കെ വാങ്ങി പൈസയും നേരവുമൊന്നും കളയാൻ “സിറ്റി-മാട്ടുക്കാർ” തയാറാവാറില്ല. ഹോർമോൺ ഇഞ്ചെക്ഷൻ കൊടുത്ത് പാൽ അധികം ചുരത്തിക്കാനുള്ള വയലും നീഡിലുമൊക്കെ



കയ്യിലുണ്ടാവും. എരുമയും പശുവുമൊക്കെ സസ്യബുക്കാണ് എന്നാൺ  നമ്മൾ പഠിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടാവുക. ചിത്രത്തിൽ കാണുന്നതു പോലെയുള്ള മേച്ചിൽ സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ കീട്ടുന്നത് എന്തായിരിക്കും എന്ന് ഊഹിക്കാനെ വഴിയുള്ളൂ! ഇതുപോലുള്ള എരുമയുടേയും പശുവിന്റേയുമൊക്കെ പാലാണ് പൊതുവെ തെരുവിലുള്ള ചായക്കടകളിൽ എത്തുന്നത്. പബ്ലിക്ക് ഹെൽതിനുവേണ്ടി മുറവിളി കൂട്ടുന്നതല്ലാതെ അതർഹിക്കുന്ന ഗൗരവത്തോടെ ഗവർണ്മെന്റോ ജനപ്രതിനിതികളോ കാര്യമായ പ്രവർത്തനം നടത്താറില്ല.

റോഡിൽ മേയുന്ന നാൽക്കലികളെക്കൊണ്ട് ഉണ്ടാവുന്ന അപകടങ്ങൾ ചില്ലറയല്ല. എന്നിട്ടും അതിനെതിരായി ചെന്നയിൽ ഉടമക്കെതിരെ നടപടിയെടുത്തതായി ഇതുവരെ ഞാൻ കേട്ടിട്ടില്ല. ഇതിന്റെ പിന്നിലും ഉള്ളത് രാഷ്ട്രീയം തന്നെ !

CTS cheque leaves from July 1st ,2013?

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in its Circular dated September 03, 2012 has instructed all banks to have uniform safety features in their cheque leaves issued to customers. It is called 'Standardisation and Enhancement of Security Features in Cheque Forms'.

As per the said guidelines, banks have been advised to issue only 'CTS 2010' standard multicity/Payable at Par cheques to their account holders.

Effective July1st, 2013 usage of non 'CTS 2010' standard cheques will not be accepted by trades or for purchases, investment purposes etc.

How to identify a CTS '2010' compliant cheque :

1 Bank's logo printed with invisible ink
2 Void pantograph
3 Cheque printer details/CTS- 2010
4 Rupee symbol
5 Signature Space Indicator

You may also consult with your bank for more clarification in this regard.

In case you have submitted post-dated non-CTS 2010 standard cheques dated 1st July 2013 onwards for your future instalment of loans or Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) investments with any RD, Mutual Fund you will have to replace them with CTS-2010 standard cheques before 30/06/2013.

The stronger security features in the CTS-2010 cheque are for enhancing security of transactions.It is easy for the presenting banks to confirm the genuineness of the drawee banks' instruments. Also standardisation of security features would act as a deterrent against frauds and enhance customer safety.

So be ready to replace all the unused cheque leaves with the latest one !

Important Note: The old cheques are acceptable only up to 30/06/2013 according to the  notifications so far. Will they extent it further? Let us wait and watch!

നമ്മുടെ നാട്ടിലുള്ള നഗരങ്ങളിൽ മാത്രമല്ല,  വളർന്നു വരുന്ന  പട്ടണങ്ങളിൽ പോലും വാഹനങ്ങൾ നിർത്തി വെക്കാൻ സൗകര്യമുള്ള സ്ഥലം വളരെ വിരളമായിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ്. അതോടൊപ്പം വാഹനങ്ങളുടെ എണ്ണവും. പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് കാറുകളുടെ എണ്ണം. അതിനു പോംവഴിയായി മൾടിലെവൽ പാർക്കിങ് സൗകര്യങ്ങളൊക്കെ ചിന്തിച്ചു വരികയാണ്. ഇതിനു മുൻപിലുള്ള പോസ്റ്റ് അങ്ങിനെയുള്ള സൗകര്യങ്ങളുടെ പരിമിതികളെക്കുറിച്ചായിരുന്നു.

വികസിത രാജ്യങ്ങളിലുള്ളതു പോലെ വിശാലമായി ചിന്തിച്ച് വരാൻ പോകുന്ന അമ്പത് കൊല്ലത്തേക്കെങ്കിലും ഇന്ന് നടപ്പിലാക്കുന്ന പദ്ധതി പ്രയോജനപ്പരെടണമെന്ന് നമ്മൾ വിചാരിക്കാറില്ല. കാരണം പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ നേരിടാൻ തുടങ്ങിയിട്ട് തന്നെ ദശാബ്ദങ്ങൾ കഴിഞ്ഞാലേ  പ്രശ്ന-പരിഹാരത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് ചിന്തിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങുകയുള്ളൂ.  അത് കഴിഞ്ഞ് പദ്ധതി നടപ്പിലാവുമ്പോഴേക്കും അതിനു വേണ്ടി പാടുപെട്ടവർ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ ഭാഗ്യം.

Parking vows of Chennaites

Chennai is facing one of the worst vehicle  parking space problem for years now. The number of vehicles on the road have increased multi-fold. So also the middle income level people owning a vehicle of their choice. Our planners never take any such issues beyond there  door step.

The growth  and development has been so haphazard that there is no standards followed in what is perceived as standard. The national  highways itself are examples of bad planning and execution.  In this situation  the talk of parking spaces  will not be of much use.




For long two decades plans for multi-storey parking facility in areas like Flower Bazaar ,T Nagar etc are being talked about by authorities concerned. There are private companies  waiting in wings to make a start. But no one is sure of the nature of parking facility proposed. In Flower Bazaar area of Broadway the facility will cater to only those two wheeler  going to shops there. This is too little and too late. Even after providing a multilevel parking site, will the users prefer or  willing to ride up and down a few floors to park vehicles ? There is no other option it seems.

പിച്ചാത്തിക്ക് മൂർച്ചയുണ്ടാക്കുന്നത് നിത്യവൃത്തിയാക്കിയ ഇദ്ദേഹത്തെ നിങ്ങൾക്കും സുപരിചിതമായിരിക്കാം. ഒരാളല്ല ഇതു പോലെ കുറച്ച് പേരുണ്ട്. പലരും തോളിൽ ഒരു മാറാപ്പ് മെഷീനും ഘടിപ്പിച്ച് ഈറോടിൽനിന്നും കാലത്ത് വണ്ടി കയറി ചെന്നയിൽ വന്ന് പലവഴിക്ക് ഒറ്റയായി പിരിഞ്ഞുപോകും. പല ദിവസങ്ങൽക്ക് ശേഷം തിരിച്ച് വണ്ടി കയറും.
പ്രവൃത്തി ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ ചെന്നയിലും ചുറ്റുമുള്ള സ്ഥലങ്ങളിലും സഞ്ചരിച്ച്, വീട്ടുകാരുടേയും ചെറിയ ചെറിയ കടക്കാരുടേയും മറ്റും കത്തിക്ക് മൂർച്ചയുണ്ടാക്കിക്കൊടുത്ത്, കിട്ടുന്ന വരുമാനം ചെലവു ചുരുക്കി മിച്ചപ്പെടുത്തിവേണം തിരിച്ചു പോകാൻ. ഇക്കൂട്ടരുടെ കുടുംബം ഇവർ വരുന്നതും നോക്കി കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നുണ്ടാകും.

മുസ്ലീം സമുദായത്തിൽപ്പെട്ടവരാണ് ഇതിൽ മിക്കവരും. ചിലർ ഇവരെ സംശയത്തോടെ വീക്ഷിക്കാറുണ്ട്. ഒരു ചിലർ ചെയ്യുന്ന ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തികൾ കാരണം എല്ലാവരും അതു പോലേയാണെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നത് സമൂഹ നീതിക്ക് ചേർന്നതല്ല.


അവരുടെ കയ്യിലുള്ള ചാണക്കൽ മെഷീൻ സ്വയം നിർമ്മിച്ചതും പല പാഴായ്പ്പോകുന്ന സാധനങ്ങളുടെ പുനർ- വിനിയോഗവുമാണ്. ബൈസിക്കിൾ റിമ്മും ക്രേങ്കും പെഡലുമൊക്കെ ഉപയോഗപ്പെടുത്തിയതായിക്കാണാം. ഈ മെഷീനിൽ കാണുന്ന ചാണക്കല്ലും പല കമ്പനികൾ ഉപയോഗിക്കാവുന്നത്രയും ഉപയോഗിച്ച ശേഷം കുപ്പത്തൊട്ടിയിൽ എറിഞ്ഞതാണ്. 
അങ്ങിനെ ഉപജീവന മാർഗ്ഗത്തിനുവേണ്ടിയാണെങ്കിലും ഇവർ ചെയ്യുന്ന ക്രീയാത്മകത്വത്തെ പ്രകീർത്തിക്കാൻ ഇവിടെ ആരുണ്ട്?

സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ അടിത്തട്ടിലാണെങ്കിലും “അവനവനാത്മ സുഖത്തിനായ് ആചരിക്കുന്നവ അപരന്നു സുഖത്തിനായ് വരേണ” മെന്ന ഗുരുദേവന്റെ ഉപദേശം അന്വർഥമാക്കുകയാണ് ഇവർ!

മുരടിച്ചും തുരുമ്പ് പിടിച്ചും കിടക്കുന്ന നമ്മളുടെ സാമൂഹ്യ നീതിയെ വെളുപ്പിക്കാൻ ഇവർ എത്ര കാലം ഇനിയും രാകിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കണമെന്നറിയില്ല!

A friend that he was!

Some of the friendly people in our life may leave us permanently at an un expected time. For me it happened on several occasions over a period of four decades. 

I left my native place in 1970s. After completion of studies , I was searching for a job like our other friends. Some smart and some dull. Some tall and some short. Some vocal and some dump. Because of the affinity of challenges faced our friendship grew stronger and stronger.Another binding factor was that we both hailed from the same village albeit from its south and north .By the current standard it is only a stone throw distance. But the beauty was that there is a hill that separate us apart .The hill is picturesque with thick forest cover and a hairpin curve road, sloping steeply downward making it a villain for vehicles cyclists and pedestrians alike.

The frequent visits to the local library and looking for the English news paper became a habit by then. Only we too were very particular about the appointments page and by that reason librarian kept an eye on us. The particular page alone was not there on a day when the number of advertisements on appointment s page is unusually more .I alerted the librarian. He looked at me sympathetically and told me that there is another person visiting here in the morning itself and going through those columns daily. Before he could finish the statement I uttered "he is the culprit !"

Worried as such that there was no chance for me to see the missed opportunities, I felt very very frustrated and looked restless. Librarian calmed my composure. He said "it is with me!"

I felt extreme sorry for my thoughtless thought that such an innocent man would have committed such a mistake. Who this other person would be, was my next curiosity. I should apologize him for an evil thought occurred to me. Oh... Prabhakar ! When I heard the librarian, no time was there to waste. That friendship strengthened by manifold. Days passed and we had to say goodbye for taking up the tasks ahead. Prabhakaran moved to Bombay and me to Bangalore.

That was the last meet in our life.The way to keep a dead person alive is in a sense, as I said earlier, by remembering them . Only thing I know about him certainly was the challenges of poverty and employment problems prevailing in 1960-70s faced by youngsters of his age. He was pleasant friend indeed...!

When you are on Face Book...!

The official word

Facebook is a great medium as it connects people like never before. I recently read that it has even beaten several job portals in providing access to jobs, which is great! But unfortunately, youngsters get carried awat by its good features and fall prey to its negative side. Any information that is available in the public space is a risk. Where most of them go wrong is in updating their location online. This makes it easier for miscreants to locate them offline. That’s a big no-no!

The biggest irony is we might not voluntarily share personal information in person with people we know but strangers online have access to it with just a click. This is where users need to exercise caution. Always think about who is going to look at what you are uploading. Facebook has access controls, so use them! In case of any problems, first report abuse on Facebook and do approach us: CID cyber cells or city cyber cells.

The police department is just beginning to make use of the social media’s potential. You must have noticed the active presence of Chennai City Traffic Police page on Facebook. It’s gradually picking up, but we have a long way to go.
